A stage group organizes several related stages into a broader phase. The card’s stage shows its current progress; the group makes a longer workflow easier to scan. Tasks still describe the individual actions to complete.
When a group helps
Use groups when a board has distinct phases or team handoffs. For example:
- Leasing: a Prospects group could contain New inquiry, Tour scheduled, and Toured; an Applications group could contain Application received and Under review.
- Move-outs: a Preparation group could contain Notice received and Inspection scheduled; a Completion group could contain Keys returned and Final review.
These are naming examples, not required templates. Agree on entry criteria and next actions for each stage. Avoid adding groups to a short board when they do not make the work clearer.
Set up a group
Use the Add a stage group section in Create, edit, and delete stages for the setup steps. That guide also covers stage names, descriptions, colors, and safe changes to an existing workflow.
Grouping is organizational: do not assume it completes tasks, assigns a team, or creates automation rules. Review the actual configuration before moving cards or changing stages.
