How to use Pet Screening in the Aptly Applicant flow

Aptly Screening now integrates directly with PetScreening.com. You’ll be able to see in Aptly’s Application Approval Center when and if an Applicant has completed their PetScreening.com profile. Applications are incomplete until their PetScreening.com profile has been updated and connected in Aptly. The integration will also associate the pets to the Aptly Contact record.


What Do You Need to Set Up PetScreening.com?

  • Aptly Screening - you must use Aptly Screening in order to integrate with PetScreening.com.
  • PetScreening.com Account - you’ll need a working and active PetScreening.com account

How PetScreening.com and Aptly Screening Work Together

In order to integrate PetScreening.com with Aptly Screening, you’ll need to reach out to Aptly Support at help@getaptly.com and ask to setup your Petscreening.com integration. It will take about 1-2 business days to get set up.

Once an applicant submits their PetScreening Profile, their application will update with the Pet Details and PetScreening.com Fido Score.

PetScreening Options

Email to the Applicant

When the applicant gets to the Pet portion of the application, they will be advised to review their email for further instructions from PetScreening.com. They will complete the PetScreening.com section on their own time.

PetScreening Embedded in Application

You have the option to have the PetScreening portion embedded in the Application. The applicant must complete the PetScreening section in order to submit their application. This means that the entire PetScreening.com flow will be in the same window as their application.

What Happens After Submitting the Pet Profile?

Once they’ve completed the PetScreening.com section (via email invite or embedded flow), it will show in the application. For applicants who do not complete the PetScreening.com portion, their application will show PetScreening as pending in the Household Applicants List.

Pet Scores will show for the household at the bottom of the Household Approval Application Center.

You’re all set! Your Applicants will be put through the PetScreening.com flow as they apply for a property.


Frequently Asked Questions

Can pet profiles be paused while in progress?

Yes. Any updates made to the pet profile are saved along the way. Applicants can come back to it at any time.

Can Applicants edit their pet profiles once submitted?

Yes. They can update as long as the pet profile is in draft or active status. If the applicant has an Assistance Animal, changes cannot be made once submitted unless requested by the Legal Review Team. Changes can be made once the profile is returned to the Applicant.

How long does it take to process?

A household pet profile and no pet/animal profile have an instantaneous turnaround time. The review time for assistance animal accommodation requests is 2-5 business days. If the review time takes longer, this likely means our team is waiting for validation from the third-party healthcare provider or more information is needed from the animal owner.

How are accommodations evaluated?

When a Requester (animal owner) submits a reasonable accommodation request for housing, the request goes through a comprehensive legal review process that adheres to HUD and FHAct guidelines. During the review process, our Assistance Animal Review Team contacts the support animal owner’s (Requester) third-party health care provider to validate the document’s authenticity and never inquires about the specific nature of a disability. (The FHAct provides that reliable and credible documentation that meets the test of reasonableness may be requested. Documentation must affirm the animal owner has a disability and a unique disability-related need for each specific animal where an accommodation is requested. Can refunds be issued for pet profiles?

No refunds are offered once the household pet profile has been submitted. PetScreening is a screening tool that is part of the overall rental application process. PetScreening profiles are fully transferable to property managers & pet service providers, regardless of if they use PetScreening or not.
