How to Set Up the Email Automation Reporting Widgets

Add the email automation tracking widgets to your board reports.

Use the automation reporting widgets to gather insights to the success of your email campaigns. You can view open and engagement rates.

How to Install the Reporting Widgets

How to Read the Reports

Each widget is defined by the number of cards that are either created within a certain time period or active within a certain time period.

But what’s the difference?

Widgets are defined by the created at date or the activity on the card. If the widget has a clock icon, it focuses on cards created with in the dates selected for the reports. If the card is created outside of the selected dates, it will not be included in the report widget regardless of any activity on the card.

If the widget has the activity icon, then any activity that occurs on the active card within the selected time frame will appear within the report. For example, if the card is created 4/30 and the dates selected are 5/1-5/8, the card’s activity will be included in the report as long as it’s an open card.

Reading Real Data

In this example set of report widgets, we see several numbers. Let’s talk through them:

Metric
Explanation
Messages Sent
The total number of emails sent within the selected time period. 66 total messages were sent out via automation.
Total Opens
The total number of emails that were opened. In this case there were 61 emails opened. This only counts the initial open, not every time the recipient opened the email.
Open Rate
the number of opens / total number of emails sent. 92% of the emails sent via automation were opened.
Engagement %
Engagement is related to ALL cards on the board, not just the cards with email automations. This is any reply on the card.
Automation Metrics
Each email automation will show the inbox, subject line, creation date (when it started sending emails), total messages sent, open rate, and total opens.

💡

Subject lines are a major factor in open rates. Some best practices:

⦿ Use emojis sparingly - the topic and audience will determine the best use case.

⦿ Keep personalization to the email body. Avoid using the recipient’s name in the Subject line.

⦿ Be direct. Humor and other gimmicks aren’t always received well by all audiences.
