Application Steps for Applicants

Step
Description
Personal Info
In the very first step to completing an application, the Applicant will be asked to provide their legal name, phone number, and email address. Completing this section officially starts the application and brings the applicant to the Applicants board.
Lease Information
The applicant will provide their desired move-in date and if they have toured the rental; if they indicate to have toured, we will collect that date for your team.
Identity Verification
Applicants will go through automatic ID Verification or upload their ID during the third step of the application process.
Housing History
In this section, applicants will need to add their current address and indicate what type of housing it is (if they rent, own, or are staying with family/friends). A previous address will be added depending on your required years of Housing History set in Screening Management - Organization Settings. The applicants will then need to answer a set of application questions; if you have enabled the Section 8 flow as part of screening, we will collect that information at this point in the process.
Background Check
The applicants are asked to confirm their legal name, and they will add their birth date as well as their Social Security Number twice in this section.
Application Fee
Stripe will be used to collect the application fee.
Household Info
Applicants will be able to invite other adults to complete their portion of the household application, add minors, or include a guarantor in this section of the application. They’ll receive an email invitation with a link to complete the application.
Pets
When using Aptly alone, we will ask applicants to add their pets in this section. They will designate the type of pet (Dog, Cat, Other), add the name, breed, and weight, and inquire if the animal is an assistance animal (ESA or service animal). If the applicant selects an assistance animal, we will require documentation. If your team utilizes the PetScreening.com integration, Applicants will see your policy and check a box that they understand that they need to complete their profile as part of the application process. Upon checking the box and continuing on, they will receive an email from PetScreening to complete their application there. Aptly will bring that information onto the Application once the applicant has completed this step in PetScreening.
Vehicles
We will record the type of vehicle and all pertinent information that your team may need for any Lease documentation (Make, Model, color, License Plate info, if the car is oversized or corporate).
Income Verification
Applicants will be prompted to connect their bank account during this step of the application if your team has Bank Verification enabled or required. Individuals will search for their banking institution and enter their credentials to allow your team a snapshot of deposits, debits, and more. Once the bank account is connected, applicants will move on to the next step. If applicants decide to skip, they will be asked if this was a bank connect issue or a preference, then they will proceed to the next step.
Employment History
In this section, applicants will define their employment (Employment, Contracting/ Self-Employed, and Additional Income) and add rich details including Monthly income, start date, if this is a current or future position, and supervisor contact information. Applicants will then need to upload documentation after this step. If they noted Employment, they will be asked for Pay Stubs; Self-Employed individuals will be asked for Tax Documentation, and Bank Statements may be required based on your Screening settings and if the applicant has already connected their account.
Agree & Submit
The final step will be for the applicant to sign and agree to the background check terms as well as your added Application Terms and Conditions. If you have screening set to auto-run, this final step being complete will initiate that step.
