How to Reconnect Your Inbox

Ways to troubleshoot when your email isn’t connecting.

Why Is My Inbox Not Syncing?

  • Your password was recently updated.
    • If you update your password in your email provider, you will need to

    • Just like your browser and computer updates for security purposes, Google and Microsoft update their authentication settings. When that happens, it just requires

  • Your email provider has reduced your inbox traffic due to high inbox usage.
    • Both Gmail and Outlook have limits to their usage. When you connect your inbox to multiple apps including Aptly, your email provider can pause your incoming and outgoing messages when you reach their set limit. Alternatively, if you send multiple emails (like bulk communication) often, your email provider can limit your usage. To alleviate the amount of traffic in your inboxes, remove any additional connected apps and try to resync your account. It could take some time for the email provider to recognize a smaller usage.   • Your inbox needs a refresh.
    • Sometimes a reconnection from Aptly to your email provider renews the connection. Reconnecting your inbox does not have any negative repercussions. It just re-establishes the connection.


How to Reconnect Your Inbox

It’s super easy to reconnect your inbox. There’s no need to disconnect and your original inbox settings will not be changed. It’s just a way to grant Aptly continued permission to sync your inbox.

To reconnect your inbox, you’ll need to know your password for your email provider.

  1. Click on Settings in the bottom left corner of the browser.
  1. Under My Settings, click on Personal Inbox.
  1. Click on your inbox to highlight it and additional settings will appear on the right.
  1. Click on Reconnect and an authentication window will pop up.
  1. You can follow the steps to authenticate by signing into your provider using a Single Sign On.
  1. Click Save.
  1. Refresh your browser.

In rare instances, changes made with your email provider require more than a simple “reconnect”. In these cases, click “Disconnect” and fully reconnect your Personal Inbox.
