Customizing and Managing Board Views

Managing and Customizing Board Views

Default Board Views

Every board includes these standard view types:

  • Kanban: Columns show card progress through stages.
  • Table: A spreadsheet-style overview of all cards.
  • Diagnostics: A performance-focused view (see “Using the Diagnostics View” article).
  • Embedded Miro Board (template boards only): A workflow map outlining the board’s automations.

Adding New Views

  1. Click the plus (+) icon next to your view tabs.
  1. Select a view type from the list.
  1. Customize it with filters, visible fields, and a name.
  1. Choose if it should be Private (visible only to you) or Protected (visible to everyone, but not editable).

You can create multiple views of any type — for example, one Kanban view filtered by “Assigned To,” and another showing only “High Priority” cards.

  • Great for monitoring task completion or workload.

Reports View

  • Add a title and configure directly within the view.

Knowledge View

  • Houses documentation related to the board.
  • Organize with folders, pages, and subpages — all accessible within the board workspace.

Integration Views

You can embed other tools directly into a view using a link or embed code.

Common examples include:

  • YouTube: Display a process walkthrough or training video.
  • Google Sheets/Docs: Add live data or shared documentation.
  • Power BI: Show analytics dashboards directly on your board.

Managing Views

Reordering Views

  1. Click the three horizontal lines next to your view tabs.
  1. Drag and drop the views into your preferred order.

Editing Views

  • Click the more options (⋮) menu in any view.
  • Choose to Edit, Clone, or Delete.
  • When editing a list or calendar view, update filters or visible fields as needed.

Visibility Settings

  • Private View: Visible only to the creator.
  • Protected View: Visible to everyone but cannot be edited by others.
  • Shared Views: Ideal for team-wide workflows or dashboards.

Best Practices

  • Use Private Views for testing or personal tracking.
  • Create Protected Views for shared team reference.
  • Add Calendar Views for time-based tracking, like renewals or showings.
  • Use the Knowledge View to store SOPs or team resources directly on your board.
