Use this guide to add and configure views. To choose between view types, start with Board views overview.
Check access first
View-management permissions are separate from board membership:
- Can install default board views: add default views such as Kanban and Table.
- Can modify default board views: change view configuration.
- Can modify public board settings: manage broader public-board configuration, such as fields, forms, and automations.
See User Roles and Permissions. A private or protected view setting does not itself grant access to a private board.
Add a view
- Select New View beside the view tabs.
- Choose a view type and enter a descriptive name.
- Configure the options offered for that type, such as fields, filters, grouping, or dates.
- Review any Private or Protected options before saving.
- Save, open the new tab, and check that it shows the intended records.
You can use separate Kanban or Table views for different working perspectives instead of repeatedly changing one view.
Configure the right options
- Kanban: choose visible fields and card presentation.
- Table: select columns, filters, and grouping.
- Calendar: choose the relevant date field, such as a tour date or deadline.
- Tasks: review tasks within the board.
- Reports: configure board summaries and metrics.
- Knowledge: organize board documentation with folders, pages, and subpages.
AI Dashboard generates a dashboard from the current board’s data; see Build an AI Dashboard. Aptly App Hosting embeds an externally hosted full app. Its data permissions and allowed actions must be configured separately.
Integration views can embed supported external tools, such as YouTube, Google Sheets/Docs, or Power BI, using the required link or embed configuration. Some template boards include a Miro workflow map.
Manage existing views
- Reorder: open the three-horizontal-lines control beside the tabs, then arrange the views.
- Edit or clone: open the view’s options menu and choose the available action. Review the resulting settings before saving.
- Delete: use only when you intend to remove that view; check its use by teammates first.
- Visibility: review private/protected settings alongside board membership and role permissions. Confirm the result with an intended viewer rather than assuming “protected” grants access to everyone.
Reopen the view after a change and verify its name, record selection, visible fields, and intended access. Prefer a private test view when experimenting.
