Board fields are where all your data lives. Each card on your board stores information in these fields — such as contact details, property info, dates, and custom data unique to your process.
In this article, we’ll cover how to view, create, and organize your board fields so your data stays clear, consistent, and easy to manage.
Accessing Board Fields

To open your Board Fields, go to your board and click the ⚙️ (Settings) icon in the top-right corner.
Then select Board Fields under Advanced Settings.
Here, you’ll see a full list of all existing fields on your board, organized alphabetically.
You can scroll through, search, or add new ones as needed.
Adding a New Field

To create a new field:
- Click Add Field at the top of the list.
- Choose a Field Type — for example, text, number, date, dropdown, checkbox, or multi-select.
- Give your field a clear, descriptive name (like “Move-In Date” or “Lease End Reason”).
- Click Save.
Each field you add becomes available on all cards within this board.
Field Groups

Field Groups help you organize related fields together so your card data is easier to navigate.
For example:
- On a Renter Leads Board, you might create a “Craigslist” field group that includes fields specific to Craigslist form submissions.
- On a Lease Renewal Board, you could have a “Lease Details” group with fields for start date, end date, and rent amount.
To create a group:
- Click Add Field Group.
- Name your group (e.g., “Marketing Sources” or “Maintenance Details”).
- Drag fields into the group to keep related data together.
This structure helps keep your cards organized and makes it easier for your team to find what they need quickly.
Mirror Fields (Fields Mirroring In)

Mirror fields pull data from other boards — like a property address or unit number from your Properties board — into your current board.
This ensures data stays consistent across all parts of your workflow.
For each mirrored field, you’ll see:
- The Origin Board (where it comes from)
- The Original Field Name
- The Current Field Name on this board
- Whether it’s read-only
Use mirrored fields to connect your data across boards without duplicating effort.
Fields Mirroring Out
Fields can also “mirror out” to other boards.
For example, your Unit or Lease boards might share field data with related processes like Maintenance or Renewals.
This helps downstream boards automatically display relevant details without requiring manual updates.
Typically, you’ll see more mirrored fields coming into process boards and more mirrored fields going out from your Location boards (like Properties or Units).
Best Practices
- Keep field names consistent across boards (for example, always use “Move-In Date,” not “Move-In” or “Start Date”).
- Use field groups to make your forms and cards easier to read.
- Avoid deleting fields that are used in automations, forms, or templates.
- Review mirrored fields periodically to ensure data connections are still correct.
Summary
Board fields define what data lives on your cards.
With thoughtful field organization and mirror setup, your team can maintain consistent, reliable data across every process — from leasing to renewals to maintenance.
