How to Set the Time Zone on a Paired Lock

Calibrate the timezone on your paired lock.

Setting the correct time on your paired lock ensures accurate reporting and activity history. When a prospect, vendor, or team member enters a property, the timestamp generated by the lock reflects the lock’s internal time. If the lock’s time is not properly calibrated, reporting may be inaccurate.

Because locks do not automatically sync to your time zone when they arrive, you will need to calibrate the time for each lock after pairing. This can be done directly within the Aptly Access Manager app as part of your pairing workflow.

When Should You Calibrate Lock Time?

You should calibrate the lock time:

  • Immediately after pairing a new lock
  • If time-generated codes are not working
  • If the lock has been moved to a different time zone

Calibrating ensures accurate entry.

How to Calibrate Lock Time

  1. Open the Aptly Access Manager app.
  1. Select the lock you recently paired (or the lock you need to update).
  1. Once inside the lock details, scroll to the bottom of the screen.
  1. Locate the Calibrate Lock Time option.

You will see two available actions:

  • Get Lock Time – Displays the current time set on the lock.
  • Calibrate Time – Synchronizes the lock’s time with the time currently set on your mobile device.

To update the lock:

  • First, you may select Get Lock Time to confirm what time the lock is currently showing.
  • Then select Calibrate Time to synchronize it.

Important: You must be physically near the lock to perform this action.

When you calibrate the time, the lock syncs to your device’s time settings. As long as your device is set to the correct time zone, the lock will update accordingly.

Why This Matters

Properly calibrating the lock time ensures:

  • Accurate prospect entry access
  • Reliable vendor access
  • Correct reporting timestamps
  • Clean historical data for auditing and compliance

Taking a moment to calibrate each lock during pairing sets it up for long-term reporting accuracy and avoids confusion later.
