What about residents who don't have a smartphone, or maybe they just left it on the kitchen counter? Fear not, Aptly has a solution for that too!
How Residents Generate a PIN Code
By default, residents can generate their own unique nine-digit PIN code from within their Aptly Resident App. This code is a backup for those "oops, I forgot my phone" moments.
How Your Team Can Help with a PIN Code
Sometimes, a resident might call you in a panic because they're locked out.
- From the Aptly Access widget for that lease, you can see all the PIN codes the resident has generated.
- In an emergency, you can generate a temporary code for them directly from Aptly Access.
- Provide this code to the resident over the phone.
Pro-tip: Before you give out the code, be sure to verify their identity. A good practice is to confirm their name and unit number.
Long-Term PIN Codes
If you have a resident who doesn't use a smartphone, you can generate a long-term PIN code for them. This code can be set for the duration of their lease, giving them a reliable way to get into their unit without needing the app.
