For added fraud protection, use Aptly’s Doc Fraud tool to scan uploaded documents from applicants. The Doc Fraud Check will flag any fake or altered PDF documents.
How to Enable Document Fraud Scanning

- To enable Document Fraud Checks, head to your Screening Management Settings.
- Select Organization Settings.
- Toggle ON Enable document fraud checks.
Each document fraud check costs $2.00.
Auto Scan Documents

Document fraud can be set to automatically run on Bank Statements, Pay Stubs, and Tax Documents. You can set the scan condition to:
- Always scan
- Only scan when Bank Connect has been skipped, or
- Never scan certain types of documents.
A maximum number of documents will also be set when auto scanning documents.
Fraud Check Permissions
If your team plans to also manually scan documents, you’ll need to add the permission to their role. For more details on Role Permissions, see: Permissions

How to Scan a Document
- Open the applicant household.
- Select the applicant with documents that you wish to scan.
- Scroll down to the documents section.
- Click on the 3 dots and select Run Doc Fraud Scan.
When the scan is complete, you’ll see a green checkmark or a red warning icon. To view the report, click View Report under the 3 dot menu. The report will look similar to the one below.

The document was not scannable due to the quality or the file format. PDF files will return the best results.
