Remember that cabinet you have (you know the one with all the keys on a pegboard) in the back of your office that you have to rifle through in order to find a property’s set of keys whenever you want to show the property, allow a vendor into the home, or change the locks? Aptly Access can replace your key cabinet by remotely sharing access to a property without the use of physical keys.
What Do I Need to Get Started?
- Smart Locks compatible with TT Lock
- Update Listings in your Property Management Software and in Aptly (and/or set up your Listings Widget)
- Enable and Set Up Aptly Tours (with your Customer Success Manager)
In this article, we’ll discuss ordering and setting up your Smart Locks.
What Locks Should I Get?
Aptly Access is designed to work with any bluetooth enabled lock that is also compatible with TT Lock (it’s a Smart Lock app for iOS).
You have 2 options for obtaining locks:
- You can purchase these types of locks from online retailers like Alibaba.com with prices ranging from $20+.
- We can also order locks that are already paired for you. If you’re interested, reach out to sales@getaptly.com, and we can get them ordered for you.
Ordering Locks
If you choose to order your own locks, here are some guidelines:
- Smart Deadbolts are recommended as they eliminate keys. Keys can be easily copied by fraudsters during tours.
- Locks should be at least 68mm wide on the front-facing side to cover standard United States lock installation.
- Order a sample unit to test its fit and compatibility before ordering all of your locks.
- Locks will need to be Bluetooth and TT Lock Compatible.

How to Pair Your New Lock with Aptly Access
Once you get your new lock, you’ll need to pair it with Aptly Access (our lock management app). We recommend initially pairing your new lock with a fictitious property created in your property management system or in Aptly. This will allow you to test out the functionality of the lock, scheduling, etc. before putting it out in the wild.
Your lock will come with instructions to pair with TT Lock, but you’ll skip that and follow the steps below.
- Download and install the lock pairing app for Aptly from the Apple App Store.
- Turn on the Smart Lock.
- Enable Bluetooth on your iPhone.
- Put your lock in pairing mode (Varies from lock to lock. Refer to your provided documentation for more details).
- In the Aptly Pairing App, navigate to Nearby from the menu at the bottom.
- Tap Scan in the top right corner. Your lock should appear on the screen.
- Tap on it to pair with the Aptly App. Once paired, you’ll hear and/or see a confirmation of it on your screen.
- Navigate to Devices at the bottom, and link the lock with the location.
A Locks board will also be installed for you to manage your locks.
